A monumental Christian Dior by John Galliano haute couture scarab bib necklace from the Spring/Summer 2004 Egyptian collection, Look 29, worn by Hana Soukupová for its original Paris runway presentation. Composed of articulated gilt-metal scarab motifs enriched with pale lilac enamel and polychrome Swarovski crystals, the necklace forms a broad, armour-like pectoral across the body, translating the sacred scarab into an object of extraordinary scale and surface richness. Conceived for Galliano’s celebrated Egyptian couture collection, inspired by his journey through the Valley of the Kings, Cairo, Aswan and Luxor, the jewel exemplifies the collection’s fusion of archaeological reference, couture craftsmanship and theatrical excess, and belongs to one of the most visually ambitious periods of his tenure at Dior.
